This year, Business for Peace is launching an afterwork series with MESH in Oslo. The first event will explore The Future of Cities and what role businesses have to play in shaping this future, from urban design to transportation, infrastructure, socialisation, digitisation and beyond.

 

Join us 31 January at 18:00 for expert perspectives from Frode Hvattum, Head of Strategy at Ruter, and Silje Bareksten, Head of Sustainability and Technology at Nor-Shipping and former Head of Smart City Oslo. More speakers will be announced soon.

 

 


Programme

 

Each speaker will give a brief talk, followed by a Q&A. The bar will be open for mingling afterwards too. If you are not in Oslo, stay tuned to our social media channels for live updates from the event.

About the Speakers

 

Screen Shot 2019-01-10 at 11.49.05Silje Bareksten is Nor-Shipping’s first ever Head of Sustainability and Technology. Silje is responsible for Nor-Shipping’s green and digital transformation initiatives, supporting the maritime industries in developing profitable models for sustainable business activity within the ocean space. Silje is a World Economic Forum Future Council member, technology enthusiast and former entrepreneur, experienced in developing organisations through innovative practices. Prior to her current role, Silje was Head of Smart City in Oslo, where she was one of the pioneers in championing Oslo’s position as a sustainability and technology hub internationally.

 

 

 

 

Frode Hvattum smaller fileFrode Hvattum is Head of Strategy at Ruter. He has the last four years worked on the topics public transportation, digitalisation in the mobility sector, innovation and change and fossil-free public transportation. He is also chairman of WWF Norway and is passionate about driving positive change to society, focusing on mobility and environment. Earlier Frode worked at Accenture where he built up and managed Accenture’s unit for sustainability services in the Nordic region, focusing on smart city, circular economy, climate change and sustainability strategy.

Johan Høgåsen-Hallesby is Chief Technology Officer at Urban Sharing, the technology startup powering the city bike schemes in Oslo, Trondheim, and Bergen in Norway. In September 2018, the company launched its first project on UK soil, delivering the technology for Edinburgh’s first city-wide bike sharing scheme. Originally trained in service design, Høgåsen-Hallesby has a background in digital strategy and has worked on multiple public transport projects prior to joining Urban Sharing. Johan is an advocate for open data and collaborative work between cities, public transport and technology companies, and he sees shared mobility as key to making optimal use of existing infrastructures.
